Check out NELP's online, comprehensive Fair Chance - Ban the Box toolkit available here. Ban the Box, a term first coined by All of Us or None organizers, refers to removing the check-box that asks about convictions from job applications. Fair Chance campaigns do more than remove the check-box; they are about adopting a robust set of fair hiring policies to ease employment barriers for people with records.

Root & Rebound's Children & Family Workshop Root & Rebound and OCREP are offering a special legal training using Root & Rebound's new family & children toolkit. Attendees will be empowered to help themselves, their loved ones and their clients create reentry plans for stability and success! The workshop will be held on Thursday, February 23rd 2017 from 6-8pm at Hope Builders (100 N Harbor Blvd. Suite 200, Anaheim, CA). The workshop is FREE and open to the community. Root & Rebound's Road to Reentry Training In May 2015, Root & Rebound launched "Roadmap to Reentry: A California Guide", an extensive legal resource, written in simple language, to support the 50,000 Californians leaving prison and jail each year, and the tens of thousands of people across the state who support them. The "Roadmap to Reentry" guide is designed to reach, educate, and empower those trying to prepare for and navigate difficult barriers in reentry. This guide, available in print and online, covers critical legal issues of reentry, including:
 * Navigating probation and parole rules and terms
 * Getting official identification and important legal documents
 * Acquiring housing
 * Finding and maintaining employment
 * Accessing education and vocational training
 * Applying for public assistance and other benefits 
 * Managing credit & debt issues
 * Working through common family law issues
 * Understanding and clearing your record
This training will be held on Friday, February 24th 2017 from 9am-12pm at location TBD. The training is $25 and seats can be reserved in advance here. For the date, put 2/24/17 and location "Orange County."

Representatives from UCI Law Clinic and Lifeback Legal will be presenting on dismissals, expungements, traffic ticket amnesty, sealing juvenile records and the new marijuana law. 2016 Reentry Solutions for Success October 19-20 in Ontario, CA. Success in reentry is so much more than reducing recidivism. Success in reentry means creating the conditions that enable returning men and women to have the best shot at a new beginning.
This stimulating and informative event will gather stakeholders from across California to network, share, and strategize around the most effective and innovative solutions that support the successful reintegration of formerly incarcerated people.

Orange County Conservation Corps (OCCC) is recruiting youth 18-21 for our Youth Employment Training Program! OCCC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves young, at-risk adults through employment, training and educational programs to build self-sufficiency and benefit the community. The Latino Coalition for Community Leadership will hold a three day parent leadership training, Parents on a Mission, for those interested in becoming a POM facilitator on June 28-30th in Santa Ana.POM curriculum is offered as the sole parenting curriculum for the State of Colorado Department of Corrections, in Kern County jails, and through multiple nonprofit reentry and gang prevention nonprofits throughout the U.S. and Canada. The first twenty spots are offered free of charge, funded through a generous donation by One West Bank, afterwards the cost of the three day training is $399. The County of Orange was awarded $500,000 in recidivism reduction money. The bidding time has been extended until August for more bids. If someone has transitional beds and can use another $50,000 they need to attend the Bidders Conference this Friday June 26, 2015 at 1:30 in the Planning commission room (located at the Hall of Administration 333 W Santa Ana Blvd. Building 10, Santa Ana, CA 92701). They will get information on what this is about and how to go about Bidsync which is the way to bid. If you have any questions, please direct them to Stephanie Weckerle Sweckerle@ocha.com
